Qatar property sales jump 70.3% to QR 1.5 billion in late October 2026
Qatar's weekly property sales value rose 70.3% to QR 1.5 billion in week 44, while mortgage lending fell 85.3% and rental contract value dropped 46.3%.
The facts
- Total sales value reached QR 1.5 billion in week 44 of 2026, covering 25 to 31 October, +70.3% week on week and +48.8% year on year, according to the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (Aqarat).
- Sale contracts numbered 101, down 24.1% week on week and 22.3% year on year, so the value jump came from larger tickets rather than more buyers.
- Apartment buildings took QR 535.2 million (35.3%) of the week's sales, other property types QR 525.1 million (34.6%), villas QR 330.1 million (21.7%) and residential complexes QR 127.6 million (8.4%).
- Doha absorbed QR 1.136 billion (78.8%) of sales value, Al Daayen QR 235 million (16.3%) and Al Rayyan QR 70 million (4.9%).
- Mortgage activity fell to 11 contracts worth QR 234.2 million, down 85.3% in value week on week and 29.8% year on year; vacant land alone accounted for QR 206 million, or 88% of that.
- Rental contracts totalled 489 with a combined value of QR 3.79 million, down 46.3% week on week and 92% year on year.
What it means for your money
- Deal count is shrinking while value climbs. For a buyer, 101 contracts carrying QR 1.5 billion means fewer rivals but firmer asking prices.
- Financing is the channel that moved against buyers: 11 mortgage contracts worth QR 234.2 million means almost all of the week's purchases were settled without bank credit, so an entering investor should plan around equity. Glopra data put Qatar's apartment price at 2,874 USD per square metre with annual growth of 8%, so the cash requirement rises with the price.
- An owner already letting in Qatar faces the other side of the same bulletin: QR 3.79 million of rental contract value for the week, 92% below the same week a year earlier, points to a much thinner flow of new leases to renew into.
What to watch
- Aqarat publishes the week 45 bulletin next Sunday; the contract count is the figure that separates one large transaction from a broader shift in demand.
- Mortgage value against sales value is the second gauge: at QR 234.2 million versus QR 1.5 billion, financed purchases were a small minority of the week's market.
