Qatar property sales rise 15.6% in week to 17 October 2026

Qatari property sales reached 696.5 million riyals in the week to 17 October 2026, up 15.6% on the week but 12.3% lower than the same week a year earlier.

The facts

  • Property sales contracts in Qatar were worth 696.5 million riyals in week 42 of 2026, covering 11 to 17 October, +15.6% week on week and -12.3% year on year, according to figures from Aqarat, the country's real estate regulator, relayed on 18 October 2026.
  • The number of sales contracts was 131, -7.1% on the week and -11.5% on the year.
  • By asset type: villas 197.6 million riyals (28.4%), vacant land 190.5 million (27.4%), residential units 162.8 million (23.4%) and other property 145.6 million (20.9%).
  • Mortgage contracts numbered 18, with a combined value of 861.7 million riyals, -36.7% year on year. By share, vacant land accounted for 47.4%, apartment buildings 45.7% and other property 7.0%.
  • Al Daayen led sales value with 239.5 million riyals, ahead of Doha at 209.3 million and Al Rayyan at 170.9 million.

What it means for your money

  • A single week tells you little: value is up 15.6% but contracts are down 11.5% on the year. The yearly direction is still downward.
  • Glopra's data put Qatar's total transaction cost at 4.3% of the purchase price, a fixed charge on entry that does not move with weekly swings in turnover like this one.
  • The 18 mortgage contracts carried more value, 861.7 million riyals, than the entire week's sales, so the headline rests on bank lending rather than on buyer demand.
  • Falling contract counts are a liquidity signal for an exit: 131 sales in a week, -11.5% on the year, means fewer counterparties when you want to sell.

What to watch

  • Aqarat keeps a weekly cadence, so the week 43 bulletin follows on the next Sunday.
  • The published mortgage breakdown does not reconcile: the stated sub-amounts add up to roughly 1.85 times the 861.7 million riyal total, so only the total and the percentage shares are used here.
  • The municipality figures above are the three highest values, not shares of the whole market.
